STEM Education
Hall STEM Academy fosters creativity and critical thinking through science practices and engineering processes.
Science at Hall
Science education at Hall focuses on developing foundational "science process skills" that ignite curiosity and foster critical thinking, including through observation: using the five senses to gather information. Through hands-on experiments and inquiry-based activities, young students learn to ask "why" and "how," explore the world around them, and build a strong base for more complex scientific understanding in later grades.
Technology at Hall
Hall aims to build technology skills in our students by equipping them with essential digital literacy for both academic success and safe engagement in a connected world. A crucial component is digital citizenship, which covers online safety, responsible behavior and understanding the implications of their digital footprint. Introducing basic coding and computational thinking also helps develop problem solving and logical reasoning, preparing them for an increasingly digital future.
Engineering at Hall
Hall cultivates an engineering mindset through hands-on, problem solving activities that encourage creativity and innovation. Students engage in the "engineering design process," which involves identifying a problem, brainstorming solutions, designing, building prototypes, testing and improving their creations.
Mathematics at Hall
At Hall, mathematical skills are foundational to developing a strong understanding of numbers, operations and problem-solving. Students build number sense through counting, recognizing patterns and understanding place value.
Our Mission
All learners acquire knowledge through project-based learning to apply dynamic practices of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to become constructive contributors to their communities. Students will develop the self-confidence to use their voices in advocating for their learning and to express their ideas in making impactful change.
Our Vision
Empower compassionate and creative agency in our community of innovators through student-directed, real-world learning to impact a changing world.
Our Themes
Energy, Environment, Exploration, and Social Justice
Project Lead the Way
Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a science curriculum and materials that enhances science education at Hall STEM Academy. Students are engaged in STEM based learning units that culminate in a Capstone presentation.
STEM units include the engineering design process, hands-on activities and collaboration with classmates.
A few topics include natural, material and applied sciences, such as the study of animals, the environment, properties of matter, physics and robotics.
